The Joint Military Attaché Course (JMAC) is a 12 week course designed to imbue in each potential Defence Attaché (DA) the requisite knowledge and skill, through practical training in national and international procedures, and to familiarize them with future professional challenges in a multicultural environment. It also has three learning objectives. Firstly, the programme is set to improve the skills and understanding of potential DAs in specific defence issues and provide a strong basis for their professional challenges. Secondly, to give training which is relevant to the job function, such as defence and security policy, intelligence, protocol, the structure of the armed forces, arms export control and specialized computer training. Thirdly, the programme will facilitate knowledge transfer in defence-related activities, as it applies to national and international procedures.
